Comment policy

As of this writing, I do allow comments on the Irreality site — but to comment, you must be an authenticated user and the comments are not enabled for most posts by default.

I’m not against comments per se, but I don’t have time to deal with the potential spam and/or monitoring the protections that are practically required to deal with comment spam. So I’m limiting who can post comments.

While I personally find comments on other blogs useful — and I like to post them myself when the authors or site owners allow it — I am not sure I am in favor of more open commenting, even if I felt I could keep up with anti-spam measures. Many people have their own blogs and sites nowadays. Those sites can be used to link to one of my posts and make comments; indeed, a good percentage of my own posts follow that formula. This makes each of our sites ring through loud and clear with our own voices, and overall, I think that’s a good thing.

If you have a comment about one of my stories, can’t currently post it, and would like to discuss it with me, feel free to contact me.
